Paper Snowflakes

From the library, check out a copy of Snowflake Bentley, by Jacqueline Briggs Martin, to read to the class.  It’s a book about a guy who loved to photograph snowflakes.

Then from the internet, print snowflake patterns for the kids to cut out.  Print some really easy ones for K-2 and a little harder ones for 3-5.  If you live in St. Louis, make a trip to the City Museum for some patterns of animal snowflakes and all sorts of other cool stuff.  These are more appropriate for older kids.  www.papersnowflakes.com has patterns.  In fact, if you google for paper snowflakes, you’ll find many free patterns.

After the kids cut out a snowflake or two, have them glue the snowflakes onto a colored construction paper backing and you’re done!
